Intro to Serving ELLs
Introduction
to serving ELLs is a course where I learned about the history and legislative
foundations of ELL programs, Arizona educational policies and legislation, the role of culture in learning, SEI and ESL models, SEI/ESL and bilingual strategies, comprehensible input, and how to keep ELLs and their parents engaged and involved. In this course I also learned about the standards from the state and ELL proficiency standards. But the most important thing I learned from this course was alternative assessment methods and modification methods for assesments, homework, and in class assignments.

Service Learning assignment 2 and 3 # 2 is an assignment I had to do for my Intro to serving ELLs course. In the
artifact I tell how and what I did when I worked with the students. I tell my observations and describe how my mentor teacher delivered and demonstrated instructions and communication skills. I also tell about my interview with my mentor teacher. This artifact is important because if I need help I can always look back to the things I learning throughout my experience. S.L. assignment # 3 is another assignment talking about the things I did with the group of ELL students in the resource room and things learned in my mentor teacher’s classroom. I tell about different ways my mentor teacher provided learning opportunities, and how she provides different learning styles for the different students. |
